What do you give to a God who needs nothing yet gives you everything? We sit with Psalm 116:12 and let its question do its work: “What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits to me?” From the very first moments of praise, we move into a clear message about gratitude that is not performative, not transactional, and not based on trying to “pay God back.”

We talk about why the only thing God truly appreciates from us is a life aligned with His will, and how continuous praise and devoted thanksgiving reshape our relationship with Him. You’ll hear practical, Bible-rooted ways to respond to God’s goodness: acknowledging grace instead of taking it for granted, cultivating a heart of gratitude, and offering the sacrifice of praise that matters more than any material gift. If you want deeper spiritual growth, a steadier prayer life, and a more grounded Christian mindset, these disciplines are simple but powerful.

We also lean into evangelism through testimony, because silence can leave others doubting that God still answers prayer. By sharing what God has done, we strengthen faith in our homes, our churches, and our communities. Host Benjamin Olasu Kami closes with prayer and a challenge to live uprightly so praise, worship, and testimony come from a clean heart.

Opening Praise And Welcome

SPEAKER_00

Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. We welcome you to the hour of the word of our living God in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The best response to God's goodness is a life of continuous praise and devoted gratitude. You can render this to Him by accepting His salvation, continually offering sacrifices of praise, faithfully keeping your commitments and telling others about the love of God and serving others in love.

Prayer For A Grateful Heart

SPEAKER_00

Let us pray. Our wonderful Father and our God, we worship you. Thank you for giving us freely the mind to just appreciate you and praising your name for all that you have done for us. We bring our sacrifice of praise, Lord. Please accept it. Accept us and accept our praise, Lord. In your world today, please open our hearts, our mind to see how well you value our praise and thanksgiving that we offer to you. Grant us a new heart of appreciation, Lord. For we have prayed in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

Psalm 116 And The Core Question

SPEAKER_00

The topic of our message is what shall we render unto the Lord? What shall we render unto the Lord? Our text is taken from Psalm 116, verse 12. Psalm 116, verse 12. What shall I render unto the Lord? For all his benefits to me. I read again. What shall I render unto the Lord? For all his benefits to me.

God Needs Nothing We Need Obedience

SPEAKER_00

Brethren, our God has no need. He lacks nothing. He is the one who can provide us all with our needs. The only thing that God will appreciate from us is when we do his will. Even if we don't do that, God remains God. His value and authority doesn't and we never diminish. The whole essence of our lives is to do the will of God. If we do what he wants, then he will meet us at the point of our needs. This means when we do his will, the benefits are still ours, while God will be happy with us. This is wonderful. The writer of Psalm 116 is technically unknown, but it was dearly the same book, King David's writings. Charles Wesley also in 1891 wrote a hymn with similar heading. This is a rhetorical question of overflowing gratitude. After experiencing a major rescue or deliverance, both composers marveled at God's mercy and wonder how a human being can possibly repay the Creator for such all the abundant grace and blessings. They were so excited and overwhelmed. They both succinctly captured major premises of what God will really want us to do. My brethren, you must have experienced similar benefits from God in the past and probably wondered how you can show appreciation to God. This podcast is to learn from others how their decision and actions can influence our own decisions too. Have you ever got to a point where you have the conviction that the grace that is around you is beyond your power? Have you ever sat down and ask yourself, What can I do to appreciate God for all that He has done for you? I mean, for all that God has done for you. We are not talking of paying back, no, far from it. Nobody can never pay God back. We can only show our appreciation to God. The hymn says, Lord, I owe thee for whatever I have. So from where can anyone pay back?

Acknowledge Grace And Offer Praise

SPEAKER_00

Now, some of the ways we can show appreciation to God are as follows. Number one, acknowledging grace. Acknowledging his grace. The authors recognize that we cannot actually pay God back for his great and marvelous deeds for us. From his daily blessings, provisions, and protections. His salvation and love are free, on end, and infinite. These things are taken for granted by many of us. King David in Psalm 106, verse 2. Psalm 106, verse 2 asked rhetorically, who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? Who can show forth all his praise? That great hymn says, If you have a thousand tongues, it will not be enough to speak of the goodness of our God. Our God appreciates our praise and thanksgiving, even with the one tongue that He has given us. Just say thank you, Lord. I appreciate your goodness and grace to me. You will be surprised how this will grant you greater access to the grace and power of God. Number two, the heart of gratitude. The heart of gratitude. Instead of offering a transactional payment, the vast pivot to a heart of worship and thanksgiving. Similar to the appreciation of his goodness, God appreciates our praise and worship. The sacrifice of praise is more acceptable to God than our gold and silver. God actually created man for his praise and thanksgiving. He inhabits our praise. O thou that inhabitest the places of Israel. The angels and the Caribbean are singing day and night. If we want his presence around us, we should build an atmosphere of praise. This will precipitate blessings for us. Today, sing your popular praise song. Compose a song that the world will sing forever to him.

Tell Your Story Through Evangelism

SPEAKER_00

Number three evangelism or telling others about our living God. We need to tell the whole world about the goodness of God. We should speak of his love, of his power, grace, and readiness to accept our heart to submission for salvation. Two years ago, a graduate of Federal University of Tech at Korea in Southwest Nigeria said when she came to the school, newly, he asked God to help her become the best graduating student of her set. When she achieved this feat at graduation, she openly told the world at her speech that it was God that did it. What a testimony! How many times have you acknowledged God as the author of your success in answer prayers? Do you know many people still doubt that God can answer prayers? This is because those whose prayers have been answered don't come out to witness and give testimony to God's goodness. Go out and tell them of your experience to strengthen the faith of others. Many don't even pray anymore. If there are faithful people to pray, there is always a God to answer.

Upright Living And Closing Prayer

SPEAKER_00

However, brethren, we should let the old world know what the Bible says in Proverbs chapter 11, verse 20. Proverbs chapter 11, verse 20 that they that are of a forward heart are abominations to the Lord. But such as are of upright in their way are his delight. This may be why many prayers are not answered. Pray for grace to be able to do the will of God. This will position us all for a better relationship with God. It is good to praise God, yes. It is good to sing to Him, yes. It is good to even give testimonies. Are we of clean heart and country spirit? I pray that from now until we see God in glory, it will become a pleasure to serve God, to do his will, and keep praising him and celebrating his blessings in our lives. Amen. We want to thank you for your interest and patience in listening to this broadcast. We believe that you have been blessed. Please help share with as many people as possible. You can also listen to this message and several previous ones on our podcast streaming. Good name, Voice of Trinity. God bless you richly as you do so. Amen. My name is Benjamin Olasu Kami. Let us pray. Father, we want to thank you for this opportunity to learn at your feet. Thank you for the grace that you delight in our thanksgiving and praise. Thank you for using this medium to bless us and make us closer to you daily. As many as are saying, God, please forgive us for our past misdeeds that are strained our relationship with you. Lord, please, as it is in your nature, have mercy on us all. Grant us access to your unlimited blessings and accept our praises. Let the testimonies of our mouths be so sweet that all may want to come to your marvelous light. Let it be so, Lord, for we have prayed in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
