NUMBERING OUR DAYS (PART 1)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your calendar is telling a story about what you worship. We open with Psalm 90:12 and a blunt truth: our days are limited, so wisdom is not optional, it is urgent. If you have been feeling scattered, stuck, or distracted by “small issues” that keep stealing your focus, this message is a reset for your mind and your priorities.
We share an unforgettable illustration about a village where each king rules for four years and then faces the “evil forest.” One young ruler breaks the cycle by planning for the ending from the beginning, transforming what everyone feared into a future he can live in. That story becomes a practical guide to Christian time management and spiritual discipline: have a plan, remember the time is short, keep to your schedule, and make choices that do not end in regret. Along the way we lean on Proverbs 16:25, Colossians 4:5, and Ephesians 5:15-16 to define what it means to “redeem the time” in a world full of distractions.
We also go deeper than productivity. The goal is not to look busy; the goal is to glorify God, serve others, and meet the expectations of the One who sent us here. Using Matthew 25:32-40, we examine what a faithful life actually looks like, then we end with a direct invitation to reconcile with God today and choose life. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review that tells us what you are changing first.

Opening Praise And Greetings
SPEAKER_00Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. We come to recovery greetings and the living word of God. In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Our days are limited here. It will profit us immensely. The more we keep our mind on the works that we are sent to do here on earth, very limited time is left.
Prayer For Focus And Purpose
SPEAKER_00Let us pray. Our Father and our God want to thank you for another opportunity to learn at your feet. We are here by your will, our mandate. You know our mandate, and you are the source of strength in achieving this mandate. Father, we pray that the issues of life will not take us away from you. That your spirit will keep inspiring us to achieve that which you purpose our life to do. And that at the end of our journey here, we will be privileged to reign with you in heaven. In Jesus' mighty name, we have prayed. Amen.
Psalm 90:12 And The Theme
SPEAKER_00The topic of our message is numbering our days. Numbering our days, part one. Our lead reference and text is Psalm 90 verse 12. Psalm 90 verse 12. So teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. So teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
The King Who Planned Ahead
SPEAKER_00Brethren, there was a village in a third world country in the dark ages. They had a strange culture for their rulers. Any ruler choosing, we have the authority to do anything that pleases him for a period of four years. He can kill, he can punish anybody without any offense, and he won't be challenged. He can corner other people's properties and assets. He can do just anything that pleases him, just for four years. After the reign of four years, he will be taken to the evil forest where wild animals will make a buffet of him. There is no plea of favor for every ruler, because they would know they will eventually end up after the reign of four years in the evil forest. This evil tradition continued to a point where they were finding it difficult to have successors to the throne. Then suddenly a young man appeared from the blues, campaigning to rule this village after the death of their late king. His relations persuaded him to no avail that he should avoid the calamities that usually end the rule of the kings. He was adamant. So he was crowned. Upon ascending the throne, he shunned the usual frivolous lifestyle of his predecessors, womanizing, drinking, and revenge on his enemies. In the first year, he constructed a dual carriage from the village center to the evil forest. People started bonking him that he was making a road to his site of destruction. Second and third years he gave the entire village a face lift with good roads, pipe warm water, schools and hospital. In the fourth year, he built a modern estate in the dreaded evil forest. He built a new palace also in the new estate. He then asked to be taken to the evil forest at the end of the fourth year. Of course, he was driven to the new palace where he spent several years thereafter expanding the great developments that he started in the village. Israel remains the model and he made the throne very attractive once again for other great minds. In no time, this strange village transformed into a great township where people love to visit and live. Hallelujah.
Lesson One Plan Your Life
SPEAKER_00Brethren, I want us to learn a few lessons from this story and our little text to the topic, numbering our days. The first lesson, we must have a plan for our life. Have a plan for your life. The Bible reference, Psalm 90, verse 12, encourage us to count our days. This young king did not just count his days, he made the days to count. He had marshaled his plans before being enthroned and ensured he remained focused in life. Marcus Aurelius wrote, and I quote, Your days are numbered. Use them to throw open the windows of your soul to the sun. If you do not, the sun will soon set, and you will it. End of quote. Lesson number two. The time is short. The time is short. By the special grace of God, I attended 60 years of age some years ago. I never believed how fast time flies. When I was younger, I see people above 60 as old and spent people. Psalm 90 is a special book on how fast we run our lives, how we all come here for brief moments. Life like students' exams will be easy and cheap if we all have time to solve the logic. You must find ways of solving problems fast and correctly. The start and end of life are similar, but we can make the best of the time in between. Lesson number three.
Lessons On Choices And Focus
SPEAKER_00We must keep to our schedule. Keep to your schedule. Life offers many opportunities and diverse choices. Indecision is one of the bins of unsuccessful people. If you don't know what you want out of life, then what you don't want will creep into your life. For a brilliant student, multiple professions stares at you, all of them with huge benefits. For a rich and handsome guy, many beautiful dramshells with intimidating statistics will be at your beckon. Your choice will eventually determine your destiny. If greed and personal gains is what your choice is based upon, you will come back with regrets. Proverbs 16, verse 25. Proverbs 16, verse 25 says, There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Lesson number four. Let your focus glorify God. This young man did not dedicate his time and focus to personal gain or mundane benefits. He offered to be God's hand in creation and his presence in meeting people's needs. In the course of doing this, he created a new world that glorified God. He asked for the wisdom of God to overcome evil agenda, and in doing so, he turned the world around to the glory of God. He worked faithfully to meet the needs of others, and in the process, his own needs were met. In Revelation chapter 22, verse 12. Revelation 22, verse 12, the Bible says, And behold, I'm coming quickly, and my reward is with me. To give to everyone according to his work. Lesson number five. Redeem time. Please redeem time. The irony of life is that time is never enough. We grow old quickly, but we get very wise so late. Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Colossians, chapter 4, verse 5. Colossians 4, 5, he wrote, Walked in wisdom towards those who are outside, redeeming the time. This young king used wisdom to make a purposeful use of his time. He also extended beyond the four years of expectations. Our days are not so short as we make them through greed and abuse in which we spend the days. Romans 5, 21. Romans chapter 5, verse 21 says, So that as sin reign in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The choice is yours. What we call enjoying life leads to sin, while a righteous life leads to life. Choose life today and live. Ephesians 5, verses 15 and 16 wrote, See then that you walk circumcisely, not as fools, but as a wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Stop Majoring In Minor Issues
SPEAKER_00You will see that in the story of this young king, we were silent on small daily challenges that he will be facing as king. He did not allow those issues to overwhelm his records and target. When you direct your focus in life on those minor issues, wanting to solve all problems, then your attention will shift. You start majoring in minor issues, and you may end up losing focus. This is the bane of many leaders and individuals. They lose their dreams to solving minor challenges, they become ordinary in their records. We are not here to serve personal purposes, but divine purposes ordained by God. If meeting your personal purposes has been your focus, you need to reconcile today and examine whose needs are you meeting. Jesus said in Matthew chapter 25, verses 32 to 40. Matthew 25, verses 32 to 40 that all the nations will be gathered before him. And he will separate them from one another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And he will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the king will say to those on the right hand, Come, you blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was thirsty, you gave me drink. I was a stranger, you took me in. I was naked, you clothed me. I was sick, you visited me, I was in prison, you came to me. Then the righteous will answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you as a stranger and take you in? Or naked and clothe you? Or when did we see you sick or in prison and come to you? And the king will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of my brethren, you did it to me.
Choose Life And Reconcile Today
SPEAKER_00This is the summary of it all. Are you working to meet the expectations of God who sent you here or your parochial needs? The time to make a change if you are short of his expectation is today. And the moment is now. Tomorrow may be too late. He created you for his glory, not for destruction. Come to your Maker today and reconcile your life. The little time that is left is enough to take you out of the wrong lane and join the train of salvation that Christ has prepared for you. Ask Jesus to forgive you your trespasses. Confess your sins. Tell him that you will serve him for the rest of your life. Congratulations as you do this.
