“Ask, and it will be given to you” can sound like a slogan until you sit with what Jesus actually promised in Matthew 7:7–11. We open with prayer, then walk straight into the idea of a “blank check from God” not as hype, but as a sober invitation to trust the Father who gives good gifts. We connect that promise to God’s love in John 3:16 and to His generous nature in James 1:5, where He gives wisdom liberally and without reproach.

From there, we get honest about what blocks answered prayers. We talk about relationship with God, not religion, and why friendship with Jesus grows through obedience (John 15:14–15). When that friendship is real, prayer becomes more than wish lists; it becomes a living conversation shaped by revelation, peace, and purpose. We also share everyday illustrations that make the point clear: God cares about details, rest, and the unseen ways He preserves life.

Then we lay out practical checks for a stronger Christian prayer life: refusing anxiety and ultimatums, making specific requests with thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6), and refusing to ask with selfish motives (James 4:2–3). We call for Spirit-led prayers that go beyond luxury and toward growth, impact, and peace, plus faith that stops backup plans (James 1:6). We close with a challenge to serve and sow so God blesses what we put our hands to, and a reminder that repentance is available now, not later.

Let us pray. Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, thank you, Lord, for the privilege of being your children and for answered prayers. Father, we pray that this message will give us a better understanding of our relationship with you in prayers and supplications. In the end, Lord, your name will be glorified and our lives shall be blessed. Thank you, everlasting Father, for in Jesus' mighty name we have prayed. Amen. The blank check from God. We read verses 7 to 11. Matthew 7, verses 7 to 11. Ask, it will be given to you. Seek, you will find. If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children. How much more will your father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him? Brethren, anyone who is not close to God or have deep experience of relationship with God, because they are above reading illusions, as it looks too good to be believed. In a world where people are looking for a wolf and cheap blessings, imagine a promise of ask and it will be given. This can only be from our God, who has unlimited capacity, and for his children, who are bought for a price. That whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give you. The background for God's provision for mankind is his love for us. In John chapter 3, verse 16, John 3 16, it further confirmed God's love and provision for mankind. It says, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Hence to give cannot be a problem to our God at all. In the book of James chapter 1, verse 5, he spoke about liberal giving even of wisdom by God, saying, If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Whatever you need, they are available from God, the only reserve of abundance. I pray that God will use my life and your life to define abundant blessings in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. But then, brethren, there is need to have a relationship with God. There is the need to have a relationship with God. Where there is no relationship, you can hardly communicate. There are general relationships and there are special relationships. On general notes, we are all part of God's creation. Yes. When reinforced, it reaches every home. But we will become friends and children of God if we do according to his instructions. In the book of John, chapter 15, verses 14 and 15. John 15, verses 14 and 15. The Bible says, You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing. But I've called you friends. For all things that I've heard from my father, I've made known to you. Wow. If you happen to be the friend of a billionaire, even in whatever currency, we will be making younger in the society. Now imagine being the friend of the Creator and owner of heaven and earth. Just by doing his will, his spirit will start ministering to us the secrets of the heavenly. Before anything happens, God will reveal them to you. When something is happening, he will keep explaining to you why it is happening. How lucky can we be as friends of Jesus Christ? The mystery of the world will be revealed to us. If then you ask your friend for anything, just anything, he will do it. If he won't do it, it is not that he cannot do it, but both of you will agree on why it won't happen now. The good thing about this is that while others are lamenting on their mets, you will be smiling because you have a greater revelation. Hallelujah. Imagine Prophet Elijah in 1 Kings chapter 17, asking God to hold on the sunset until he will have finished his assignment. Much more than Elijah's experience will be your experience and my experience in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. A friend was given a testimony of how close he was to death with stress for lack of rest before the COVID lockdown. The lockdown gave him a real opportunity to rest and that saved his life. In Yoruba culture, it is believed that lightning at night helps few people not to fall into gutters and potholes. God is more concerned about details of your life, if only you surrender your life to him. This was why David was surprised and asked rhetorically in Psalms chapter 8, verse 4. Psalms 8, verse 4. He says, What is man that you are mindful of him, and the Son of Man that you visit him? It is because of God's love for man. May God visit us daily and perfect our blessings in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Now, we must also know that we need to ask for the right things. Just like in the law court, the prosecution lawyer must make appropriate request before the judge will grant request of his prayers. God wants us to make our request known to him. In Philippians chapter 4, verse 6, Philippians 4, 6, it says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God. Our request should be in line with the following. Number one, there should be no anxiety. There should be no anxiety. God is not giving us our request to impress anyone, no, but to glorify himself and bless our lives. So let's stop giving God ultimatum or conditions. He makes all things beautiful at his own time. We should not ask amiss. In the book of James, chapter 4, verses 2 and 3. James 4, 2 and 3, it says, You lost and do not have. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive because you ask a means that you may spend it on your pleasures. God is not interested in our luxury life, but real benefits to our soul and spirit. Number three, we should ask by the guiding of the Holy Spirit. We should ask by the guiding of the Holy Spirit. Psalm 81 verse 10 says, I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, who put your mouth wide, and now we feel it. Our request should go beyond our wardrobe needs. It should be guided by the spiritual direction. God can use your prayers as a change catalyst to bring peace to the world. If your prayers are still limited to breaking the heads of your imaginary enemies, you are probably still a baby believer who needs to grow fast. We should ask in faith. James chapter 1 verse 6. James 1 verse 6 says, Let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. Our faith is the catalyst to what and when we will receive. As some are asking, they are already making alternatives in case God does not answer their prayers. For example, a waiting mother who goes to church to pray, to mosque to pray, and traditionalist to pray. Whose glory will it be when the prayers are answered? Number five, ask for small things to big things, not take anything for granted. Going to bedroom and coming back alive is a miracle. Just as a lady without a womb receiving and delivering great babies is a miracle. Many heroes have died in bedrooms. Talk to God without ceasing. In 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, verse 17. 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 17, the Bible says, Pray without ceasing until talking to God becomes an attitude. You have not started. Be free. Power out your mind like a toddler to the mom. He is there to listen and take care of all your needs, not greed. He will take care of your concerns and worries. Over time, you will establish your trust and confidence in him. May we from now ask a right in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. And finally, we must have an enterprise of services to be blessed by God. God is not a magician that will multiply zero and get a whole number. No. The book of Genesis, chapter 26, verse 12, gives a classical example of how God blesses. It says, Then Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. And the Lord blessed him. Many have misinterpreted the Bible as encouraging laziness. God will bless only what you sow. The law of harvest even says, You will be blessed according to your sowing level. The cost of sowing and not reaping in the book of Micah, chapter 6, verse 15, will never be ours in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Brethren, please note that many will not be served even in the big party. Many will not get served even in the big party where there is excess. Maybe you have been to a big party before where you have excessive drinks and foods. So we'll be the feast of the lamp. There will be more than enough provisions, but many will not be qualified to enter the anen. Luke chapter 13, verses 24 and 25. Luke 13, verses 24 and 25 says, Strive to enter through the narrow gate. For many I say to you, we seek to enter and will not be able. When once the master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the doors, saying, Lord, Lord, open for us. He will answer and say to you, I do not know you. Where are you from? In Luke chapter 13, verse 27. Luke chapter 13, verse 27. The Bible says, But he will say, I'll tell you, I do not know you. Where are you from? Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. Workers of iniquity means sinners and those who are not obedient to the words of God. The Bible actually confirms that much as God is ready to honor his children with answer prayers. The book of Proverbs, chapter 15, verse 8. Proverbs 15, 8 says, the sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord. But the prayer of the upright is his delight. I pray that God will not make our prayers an abomination to him in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. But are you still battling with sin? That's not a problem with my God. You can get help from him today, just him alone. Go on your nails, ask for forgiveness, forsake and confess those sins. He will forgive you and give you a new lease of life to become a child of God. Whenever you call upon him, he will then answer you and make you a candidate of heaven. Congratulations as you do this. Tomorrow may just be too late. Want to thank you for your patience in listening to this broadcast. We believe that you have been greatly blessed. Kindly help share with others.
