GIVING PERMISSION FOR AFFLICTION (PART 1)

Engr. Benjamin Olamijulo Season 3 Episode 47

What if the worst wounds weren’t inflicted by force, but by access we granted without thinking? We take a hard look at how affliction often starts with permission—through unmanaged desires, careless trust, and conversations that slip past our guard. Using Samson and Delilah as a living case study, we unpack how flattery disarms, how secrets get negotiated, and how the enemy buys influence while we give it away for free.

We walk through Proverbs 25:28 and James 4:4 to show why self-control is a wall and worldliness is a trade we can’t afford. You’ll hear practical guidance on setting wise boundaries, especially around marriage and close relationships: shutting down gossip about your spouse, protecting confidences, and recognizing when generosity and praise are being used as tools. We press into the difference between cleverness and wisdom—why managing red flags is not the same as obeying them—and how small games with truth can turn destiny into a toy.

Midway, we lead three focused prayers that target self-inflicted harm, expose covert plans, and return schemes to their senders. We anchor the promise from Job 5:12–13 that God frustrates the devices of the crafty and catches the wise in their own traps. By the end, you’ll have language to guard your heart, steps to reestablish healthy walls, and hope that restoration is possible when we return our strength to God’s custody.

SPEAKER_00:

Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. We bring to you good tidings, cavalry greetings, and the living word of God. We pray for his abundant blessings for all our listeners. In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Amen. In Proverbs chapter 25, verse 28. Proverbs 25, verse 28, the Bible says, Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken without walls. It is my prayers that the power to put ourselves under strict control and not fall into the trap of enemies who act like friends. God will grant us in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Father, we ask for inspiration, wisdom, and deep understanding of your words. Let the heavens open to pour your spirits upon us. We will never again fall by the tricks of evil tactics of anyone. For those who have fallen by the traps of the enemy. Today, Lord, through this ministration, God Himself will lift you all back on your feet, patron, strengthened, healed, and fully restored into glory. Let it be so, Lord, for we have prayed in Jesus' mighty name. Amen. The topic of our message is giving permission for affliction. Giving permission for affliction. Part one. We read verses four to seven. Judges 16. We read verses 4 to 7. Afterwards, it happened that he loved a woman in the valley of Shorech, whose name was Delilah. And the Lords of Philistine came up to her and said to her, Entice him, find out where his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him, that we may bite him to afflict him. And every one of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver. So Delilah said to Samson, please tell me where your great strength lies, and with what you may be bound to afflict you. And Samson said to her, If they bind me with seven fresh bowstrings, not yet dry, then I shall become weak and be like any other man. Brethren, Samson was a legendary Israelite warrior and judge from the tribe of Dan, known for his supernatural strength granted by God as a Nazarene from Bath. He was a powerful but flawed figure who fought the Philistines for 20 years. He eventually fell victim to his weaknesses, particularly his attraction to Delilah, who tricked him into revealing the source of his strength, leading to his capture, blinding, and eventual death. In the passage that we read, it's obvious that a lot of people who meal around us do so for clandestine reasons. Many make friends with us for reasons that they don't express, but they push forward love and affection in order to be acceptable. Many will praise you to the heavens, even on values and virtues that you know are not true. They get close to you for information and investigation of who you are. They get so close that if you have issues, you will consult them first. Your trust and inner secrets are known with them. In return, they are ready to give you and your family big gifts and be available beyond your request. It's all a bit the Bible says in James chapter 4, verse 4. James 4, verse 4, that you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God. Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Samson was ambushed through the strange woman Delilah that he claimed to be in love with. Once people open up discussion on your spouse, please be quick to shut them out. Once they become comfortable in doing so, then you are on your way to selling out your family. Imagine your spouse being bribed to destroy you. Lila, having heard about money, was raw in her approach to something. She asked him, give me the secret of your power to enable anyone to destroy you. What an affront. But something in his stupidity thought he was smart. He started playing games with his life and power of anointing. Of course, a game can end anywhere. Remember how you have carelessly played games with your life and how you have ended up in regret. Some actors in Nigeria recently started a game that they will never forget: the embarrassment in a hurry. Never use your destiny to play games. In the next episode, we will discuss how something was eventually consumed. But before then, let's pray these great prayers. Prayer number one. We say, Father, under any circumstance, let me never be a collaborator to be recruited into a self-afflicted calamity to my life. I refuse to accept every physical or spiritual endorsement of plans to destroy my destiny in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Prayer number two. Everyone and anyone walking silently or openly to get close to me for evil, Father, please expose them and destroy every plan to have me, all their weapons of destruction. We backfire against them in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. And finally, prayer number three. Every plant from the pit of hell to bring down my glory. Let them crash on their promoters. I destroy every others created for my destruction by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ. I remain protected from all afflictions by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ. I remain an overcomer in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Brethren, I don't know what your experience has been in the past in trusting man in innocence. Many have lost lives, properties, and opportunities to blind love and trust. Try to start setting boundaries for your life. Jesus Christ was sold by his disciples. Your innocence may not save you if you let down your guard. Those watching you are more diligent than you can imagine. The truth is that you can't be too strong on the side of caution. I pray, our God that never sleeps nor slumber, will deliver us from all evils in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. In Job chapter 5, verses 12 to 13. Job chapter 5, verses 12 to 13, the Bible says, He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their plans. He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the cancer of the corner comes quickly upon them. This I pray that every gathering to destroy you, your work, your family, and career. God in his mighty power will frustrate them in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Don't volunteer to be an accomplished in their evil plans, evil against you. Let us pray. Our loving Father and our God, we worship you. Thank you for giving us examples on how to live our lives. Disobedience to your ordinances and seeking trust in man can only end up in failure. Father, by reason of this ministration, please restore our costs that we have godly blessed ceded to the devil by our errors. From now on, Lord, every evil covenant that is dealing with your great covenant in our lives, please, Lord, arise and deal with such covenant. The secret of the evil ones around us will be exposed and they will face upon shame. Thank you, eternal God. In Jesus' mighty name, we have prayed. Amen.
