THE WISDOM TO OVERCOME (PART 4)

Season 3 Episode 46

Send us a text

When blessings grow loud, it’s easy for obedience to go quiet. We dive into the promise spoken over Solomon and the subtle choices that bent his heart away from God, showing how comfort, alliances, and unchecked success can turn wisdom into mere reputation. The story isn’t told to shame, but to warn and invite: influence can serve God’s purposes only when affection and allegiance remain anchored.

We unpack why Scripture calls obedience better than sacrifice and how that claim reshapes daily life. Rather than a cold checklist, obedience becomes a living act of trust—hearing, believing, and acting—so that peace endures in both pressure and prosperity. Through Solomon’s turning points, we explore the real costs of accumulation without restraint, policies without compassion, and relationships that dilute devotion. Along the way, we draw out practical guardrails for modern life: practices that keep success from rewriting your loyalties and habits that turn trials into training grounds for courage.

To help you put this into practice, we share three focused prayers: to resist temptation before it blooms, to hold comfort without pride, and to keep your relationship with God from becoming a “once upon a time” memory. We close by pointing to the promise of John 16:33—tribulation is real, but so is overcoming—and by blessing you to walk with a steady heart. SPEAKER_00:

Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. We bring to you good tidings, cavalry greetings, and the living word of God. We pray for his abundant blessings for all our listeners. In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Amen. In Deuteronomy chapter 4, verse 6. Deuteronomy 4, verse 6. The Bible says, Therefore, be careful to observe them, for this is your wisdom, and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear these status and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. It is my prayers that God will give us wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and obedience to his word. He will be a shield to us always in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Thank you for answering prayers. Today, Lord, please glorify your name. Let lives be blessed to the glory of your name. Let today be a turning point for as many that have turned themselves against your status after receiving just a little part of the abundant blessings you had in plans for them. Never again will we fall into temptations or being ungrateful in your blessings. Let it be so, Lord, for we prayed in Jesus' mighty name. Amen. The concluding part, part four. Our little text is taken from 1 Kings chapter 3, we'll read verse 14. 1 Kings chapter 3, we'll read verse 14. So if you walk in my ways to keep my statutes and my commandments as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days. Brethren, we are full of praises and thanksgiving to our great God for His inspiration as we use this series to round up the episode. The power of the word, I pray, will have great impacts in our lives in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Today, we will pray again. A prayer that should be on our lips forever, I will suggest. Before then, we would like to examine critically the factors that limited the massive blessings of God upon the life of that great king, King Solomon. There is a popular saying that our miracles cannot go beyond our obedience. Yes. In the text that we read, God expressly warned King Solomon about keeping his rules and ordinances. In 1 Samuel chapter 15, verse 22. 1 Samuel chapter 15, verse 22, the Bible says, as the Lord has great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, and in obeying the voice of the Lord, behold, to obey is better than sacrifice and to heed than the fat of rams. The Bible places a strong emphasis on obedience to God, viewing it as an expression of love, of trust and worship rather than a burdensome task. Key teams include obedience as a path to blessings and protection, a demonstration of a believer's relationship with God, and a direct response to Jesus' commands to love and follow Him. Through biblical obedience is defined as not just hearing God's word, but trusting and acting upon it. King Solomon had God's warning clearly, but he broke all his rules. This is most unfortunate. King Solomon's fall was primarily caused by his disobedience to God's commands, specifically his accumulation of wealth. This opulence strained the kingdom's resources and shifted his focus from divine principles to worldly pursuits. He acquired massive military power, which he used for oppressive policies and colours rule, and most significantly, his many foreign wives who led him to idolatry. This made Solomon to ignore God's warning, and he crashed out, relying on his own ways and wisdom. God will never tolerate this. Never. The consequences were grave, as we could see in the life of King Solomon. He lived a glorious life, but this was short-lived by his disobedience. He ended up shamefully. Solomon's woeful ending is primarily documented in 1 Kings chapter 11, which explicitly states that his heart was torn away from God by his foreign wives. This disobedience led to God's anger and divine judgment that the united kingdom of Israel will be turned from his lineage after his death. Solomon ended up wasting God's blessings. I want us to pray these prayers as we bring this episode and serious discussion to a close. Prayer number one. We say, Father, let me never be tempted to disobey you. Give me the power and the will to resist every temptation. All the days of my life. I don't want to offend you, Lord. Please uphold me to the end. Let the Holy Spirit strengthen and protect me, Lord. I will never go astray from your presence, Lord. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Prayer number two. We say, Father, the comfort that will make me query your authority or disobey your counsel, please take it away from me. Even in my position of comfort and peace, let me continue to praise you, Lord, as the lifter of my head. I am resolute, Lord, to obey you and throw your ways all the days of my life. My father, my God, please help me. Strengthen me. Guide me to the end. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Prayer number three. My father, my God, let nothing and absolutely nothing turn my flourishing relationship with you to become a story of once upon a time. Let my life be a steady and continuous growth in your wisdom, obedience, and understanding in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. My Father, my God, let no circumstance be able to shorten my covenant blessings. Let me rejoice in the assurance that nothing will separate me from you, Lord. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Brethren, I know you want to overcome failure, temptations, trials, and hurdles of life in general. Put your hand in the hand of God. Submit totally your trust, hope, and expectations to Him. He will grant you the wisdom to overcome. In the book of John, chapter 16, verse 33. John 16, verse 33, the Bible says, This thing I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulations. But be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world. I pronounce victory and overcome my spirit to you and myself. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Tribulations will be a stepping stone to greatness, the peace of God will claim to be our permanent experience in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. My name is Benjamin Olasukami Olami Julom. Let us pray. Our wonderful Father and our God, we thank you for your support and blessings over our lives, and we appreciate you. Thank you for your love and provisions for us. That whenever we call upon you, it's in your nature to allow mercy to overcome judgment. Thank you, Lord, for blessing us with the blessings of heaven. Father, the strength to remain in your tenets and covenants, please grant us in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We have no power or strength to boast of without your assistance. Father, please assist us such that when we will have become an overcomer, our hands will point to you, and our hearts of gratitude will be to you and you alone. Thank you for doing this for us, Lord. In Jesus' mighty name, we have prayed. Amen.
