THE WISDOM TO OVERCOME (PART 2)

Engr. Benjamin Olamijulo Season 3 Episode 44

What would you ask if God handed you an open check? We walk through Solomon’s answer in 1 Kings 3 and uncover a pattern that still reshapes leadership, prayer, and everyday choices: remember mercy, honor your assignment, confess your limits, esteem your people, and ask for understanding over advantage.

We start with the grounding truth from Proverbs 1:7, then trace Solomon’s five wise moves that turn a tempting offer into a faithful request. Along the way, we talk candidly about how gratitude reframes desire, how humility protects us from the trap of titles, and why seeing people as entrusted—rather than inconvenient—changes the way we lead at home, at work, and in church. The heart of it is simple: wisdom is not a shortcut to success; it is a commitment to justice, discernment, and service.

You’ll also hear practical prayers for speech and decision-making, especially if you’ve ever felt a door close because of a careless answer. We ask God to redeem wasted opportunities, anoint our words, and align our motives so our requests please Him first. And yes, we preview what comes next: God’s response that goes beyond Solomon’s request, encouraging anyone who wonders if God still gives more than we ask.

If you’re hungry for godly wisdom, leading people in any capacity, or just tired of praying for the wrong things, this message will help you reset your approach. Listen now, share it with someone who needs courage to choose understanding, and if it speaks to you, subscribe and leave a review so others can find the show.

SPEAKER_00:

Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. We bring to you good tidings, cavalry greetings, and the living word of God. We pray for God's abundant blessings for all our listeners. In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In the book of Proverbs, chapter 1, verse 7. Proverbs 1 verse 7, the Bible says, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. It is my prayers that God will minister wisdom to us always. We will not behave foolishly. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Thank you for what you will do today through this broadcast. I pray for everyone under the sound of my voice, that God who gives wisdom will grant us all the wisdom that will change the story of our lives for better. Let it be so, Lord. For we have prayed in Jesus' mighty name. Amen. The topic of our message is the wisdom to overcome. The wisdom to overcome. Part 2. And this text is taken from 1 Kings chapter 3. We read verses 6 to 10. 1 Kings chapter 3, verses 6 to 10. And Solomon said, You have shown great mercy to your servant David, my father, because he walked before you in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you. You have continued this great kindness for him, and you have given him a son to sit on his throne as it is this day. Now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king instead of my father David. I do not know how to go out or come in. And your servant is in the midst of your people, whom you have chosen, a great people too numerous to be numbered or counted. Therefore, give to your servant an understanding heart to judge your people that are may descend between good and evil. For who is able to judge these great people of yours? The speech pleased God that Solomon that has this thing. Brethren, we thank God for the inspiration on this topic, especially the first episode. The feedbacks are so encouraging to the glory of God. In this episode, I pray that God's name will be glorified the more. In the last episode, we discussed the open check that King Solomon received from God. In 1 Kings chapter 3, verse 5, God requested from King Solomon, ask, what shall I give you? This literally was saying, write your need on this open check. I believe, brethren, that will have taken time to pray the prayers that we started last week as agreed. Today we will pray again. But first, let's look at King Solomon's response to this great offer from God. First, he traced the history of grace that his family has received from the days of his father. This is a great wisdom, appreciation of past benefits. How many times have you thanked God for giving you parents that had a good relationship with God? Many of Godly parents have made a mess of their children's lives. If you are lucky to have parents who didn't dedicate your life to shrines or curtis bondage, please keep thanking God. For those who are not as lucky, God will, by reason of this message, free you from every satanic bondage now. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Number two, he appreciated the grace to be given the opportunity to sit on the throne. Many of us often forget to thank God for the position we have. Many take it for granted. Your position is many people's prayer points day and night. Never take it for granted. Let us be grateful because that is the only starting point. Our tomorrow will be better. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Number three, he humbled himself like a toddler who knows nothing. This is actually what we are before God our Maker. We know nothing, but we often see ourselves in the deceitful title that the world calls us. When we humble ourselves before God, He lifts us up. Number four. He called the people that He was ruling great and chosen people. How do you refer to the people under you? Many call their subordinates all sorts of names. The people you don't respect owe you nothing in return. Let's give ourselves mutual honor and respect. It's a great blessing to be a shepherd. Number five. He finally asked for understanding to judge your right. This is a well-orchestrated response to God's offer. I want us to learn a great lesson from this response. Many people have betrayed their trust by the way they respond to simple questions or requests. How do you treat third parties in your mind and response? That's how people will assess you. When you give consideration to others and appreciate your privilege, then the sky is your starting point. More importantly, he asked for the wisdom to be just. Give me options to please you, even in my request to you, Lord. Let me not speak like a fool. Fill me with your wisdom that I will always please you, Lord. When I face man and they come with their queries, please fill my mouth with understanding and wisdom. Let foolishness not come out of my mouth in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Every opportunity that I've wasted through stupid response to questions that could have turned my life around. Please redeem time and opportunities for me today. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Father, anoint my mouth afresh with the power of the Holy Spirit. My words will come out with the power and grace. Thank you, Jehovah Jaire. In Jesus' name, we have prayed. Amen. Brethren, in the next episode of the podcast, we'll be discussing God's response to King Solomon's request. God became Father Christmas, granting Solomon beyond his request. I pray that in this season God will grant you beyond your request to the glory of his name. Amen. Want to thank you for your interest and patience in listening to this podcast. We believe that you have been greatly blessed. Please have share with as many people as possible. You can also listen to this message and several other previous ones on our podcast streaming, good named Voice of Trinity. God bless you richly as you do so. Amen. My name is Benjamin Olasukami Olami Jolo. Let us pray. Our wonderful Lord and God, we worship you. Thank you for your benevolence in granting us great privileges. Thank you for granting us even beyond our request. Father, we pray that just like Solomon had the grace to request in open check. Please grant us grace to approach the throne of grace today and always with an inspired heart to make the right request in the right approach. That we always please you, Lord. Thank you, our loving God. In Jesus' mighty name, we have prayed. Amen.
